CityDesk 2.0

FogCreek Software just released CityDesk version 2.0. As I've mentioned here previously, I used the beta and first release of CityDesk for a couple of sites, including this one. I eventually moved to MovableType, but still use CityDesk for one site. It's a nice client-side solution that doesn't require any special server software (just an FTP publish location).

Zempt 0.3 Released

Zempt 0.3 was just released yesterday and includes a whole bunch of changes including offline operation, spell checking, and better account management. It also includes plugins for Winamp and Windows Media player which will insert your current song in your web post. Currently, I'm not listening to anything :(, so it doesn't matter. But it's still cool.

Printing to PDF

Who needs Adobe Acrobat? Kjartan Mannes points out that Adobe is making it difficult for companies who simply need to print to PDF format. Buying the $299 “Standard” edition is quite pricey when you have a bunch of employees whose main need is to simply print to PDF for distribution. I run into this a lot for things like MS Project which most people don’t have installed (and who don’t need it). PDF is great for this sort of thing.
